5 year Integrated M.Sc.
NISER has been included in the list of a selected few institutions whose students directly qualify to receive scholarship under the Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) category of the INSPIRE programme launched by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.

All admitted students will receive a scholarship of Rs.5,000/- per month which should be sufficient to meet the course fees and boarding costs. Students will also receive a contingency grant of Rs.20,000/- per year to facilitate their academic pursuits.

Those performing exceedingly well in M.Sc. may have a chance to be absorbed in R & D units and autonomous research institutions of the Department of Atomic Energy.

Academic Overview
The academic programme of NISER is designed to provide strong foundations to students through core courses, before they embark at the threshold of research in the field of their choice. Although there will be four main schools (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics), disciplines like computer science, engineering sciences and earth and planetary sciences will also be included at appropriate states.

NISER will encourage faculty members of universities and colleges, who have research experience, to carry on research activities in a collaborative mode. It will encourage both theoretical and experimental research in frontier areas in all branches of science.
