CDS invites applications for Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Migration Studies
The Research Unit on International Migration instituted by the Ministry of Indian Overseas Affairs, Government of India at the Centre undertakes extensive research in all facets of internal and international migration. The Unit also trains young researchers engaged in migration research and professionals handling issues concerning migration.

The Centre invites applications for Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Migration Studies for the Unit from candidates holding Doctorates (2009-11 awardees) in Social Sciences preferably in migration or related topics. Those who have submitted their dissertations in 2011 can also apply. Age limit is 40 years. The selected Fellows are expected to conduct research strictly in the area of migration and produce original results which could lead to high quality policy papers and publications. The fellowships are purely temporary research assignments and the initial duration is one year and may be extendable. The fellowship is Rs.35,000/- per month consolidated. Seventh and Eighth short term training programmes on Methods and Approaches in Research on Migration Issues
Applications are invited for the seventh and eighth residential editions of the programme to be conducted during February 6-10, 2012 and March 5-9, 2012 respectively. Researchers and doctoral scholars of Social Sciences working on migration and related issues are encouraged to apply. Fifteen participants will be selected for each programme based on their suitability and they will be offered three- tier AC train fare from the shortest route, free board and lodging. Lessons from India’s Plantation Sector 23-24 January 2012
The seminar is being organized by the National Research Programme on Plantation Development (NRPPD) instituted by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India
The broad themes include, but not limited to; Production conditions (focus on small holders), Marketing, price formation and price trends, Market integration and trade performance, Labour related issues, Innovations in plantation: organizational, institutional and technological.
