MARINE ENGINEERING TRAINING
ONE YEAR GME COURSE
One of CSL's most rewarding contributions is its Marine Engineering Training Institute (METI), located in the Shipyard premises.

CSL has received the certificate for implementing ISO-14001 - Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001 - Occupational Health and Safety Management System, with the existing ISO-9001 - Management System Standard from M/s DNV (Det Norske Veritas) of Quality Assurance for Marine Engineering Training. The International Maritime Organization and the Government of India approve its standards, and the training is rated "OUTSTANDING" by independent organization Credit Analysis and Research Ltd. (CARE). METI has to date turned out more than thousand six hundred competent marine engineers.

The course approved by Director General of Shipping is open to Graduates in Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecturefrom institutions approved by All India Council of Technical Education. Maximum age limit is 28 years. Minimum qualifying marks, 50% marks in final year of Engineering graduation, and minimum 50% marks in English either in 10th standard or 12th standard.

Every year there will be two batches - one batch commences on 1st of January and the second batch commences on 1st of August. This course is the initial training requirement for joining a Merchant Ship as Junior Marine Engineer Officer as per STCW-95 code A-111/1 of International Maritime Organization.

ADMISSION
The sanctioned capacity of the training institute is 140 per annum. The January batch will have an intake of 108 graduates and the August batch will have 32. Normally, admission to the course is reserved for candidates Sponsored by Shipping Companies or their agents. For getting sponsorship, candidates have to get selected by a Shipping Company. DIRECT APPLICATION
Normally the seats are allotted to Shipping Companies and the list of candidates are received from Shipping Companies. Direct application to METI, CSL will be in the waiting list. In case seats remain vacant after sponsored candidates from shipping companies, the vacant seats are filled up from the waiting list. When selecting from the waiting list also, sponsored candidates will be given preference and the remaining candidates are selected on the basis of marks scored in Engg. Degree. The last date of direct application is the date of admission given in the joining instructions.

The course fee applicable for the next batch is Rs. 2,75,000/- inclusive of Boarding and Lodging, plus taxes if any applicable. For female candidates, there will be a reduction of 50% in Tuition fee (Subject to minimum four female candidates).
