Telemedicine Counseling Sessions : Tsunami response programme
- I assisted in designing and developing a telemedicine system for Tsunami affected population through a project aided by OXFAM Trust India. The telemedicine network covers eastern coast in southern India. The telemedicine system aims at ensuring access to the health care services in general and psychosocial interventions in particular. By utilizing WHO’s “Manual for Community level workers to provide Psychosocial Care to communities affected by the Tsunami disaster” I developed a training matrix for NGO frontline workers / village health volunteers for providing assistance for Mental Health programme

TOUCH (Telemedicine Organization for Unified Community Health) - 2004

- I led the multidisciplinary team of this organization in conceptualization, designing and implementing telemedicine system in Madhya Pradesh. In this system sub-district level general practitioner was linked with the specialist level hospital at state capital, which was further connected to superspeciality medical institutions in Delhi and other places. Through this operational model of telemedicine, we demonstrated the feasibility of telemedicine system in rural areas.

- Four International Agencies, namely OXFAM GB, OXFAM UK, ACTION AID Bihar and CARE joined hands to undertake the mission for assessment of flood situation of Bihar 2004. On behalf of Action Aid, I was responsible to assess Public Health and Nutrition aspect of flood-affected people. Based on the field observations analysis was done and recommendations were submitted to Inter-Agency group.

- Provided Managerial and Technical assistance, provided supportive supervision for the Reproductive Health Project. Assistance was provided for preparation and modification of Project proposal, organization of surveys (Facility Survey, End line evaluation), and incorporation of women perspective in the planning and implementation.

- The draft document on “India Country Strategy for Population Program”, developed by Packard Foundation was critically analyzed and evaluated and comments / recommendations were provided on the content and the scope of the work.
- Investigated Leadership development needs and opportunities as related to Population, Family Planning and Reproductive Health in Bihar and Jharkhand. For this purpose, qualitative research tools were developed and utilized. Public and Private institutions were explored for possibility of leadership development training programs for the potential leaders. The research paper was submitted to Packard Foundation.
- Investigated current Private sector initiatives as related to Population, Family Planning and Reproductive Health in Bihar and Jharkhand. The emphasis was given particularly to Tata related projects in Jharkhand. Issues such as the political and policy environment, charitable donations versus sustainable project support in the private sector were also considered. The research paper was submitted to Packard Foundation.
