OBJECTIVE
The objective of Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) to provide high quality management education to develop outstanding scholars for careers in teaching & research at leading business schools & universities. The programme of study builds on the powerful tradition at NIMT of excellent teaching, & on the extensive resources available for research at NIMT.

The Institute currently offers fellowship programme in areas of specialization:
** Business Policy & Strategic Management
** Economics
** Finance Management
** Human Behaviour & Organization Development
** Human Resource Management
** Marketing Management
** Operations Management
The FPM is a residential programme & would take approximately three & a half to four years to complete. During this period, students are expected to undergo course work & submit a thesis at the end of the programme. The programme commences on August every year.
COURSE WORK
The first phase has been designed to provide essential exposures to various areas of management. This basic input is followed by a series of doctoral level courses and other educational activities. In the second phase to prepare the student for a teacher-researcher role before he/she embarks on a piece of doctoral level independent research, which is expected to result in original contribution to the existing stock of knowledge.
PHASE – I
This phase of course work comprises of three terms of three months each. To get substantial exposure to various sub-areas of management & a first hand experience of Post-Graduate Management Education, the student is required to go through the compulsory courses in the Post & Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) at the Institute. In addition to the compulsory courses from PGPM, requisite courses would be designed for each FPM student to start the process of developing a deeper appreciation of knowledge base in his/her field of specialization.
Exemption:
A student with a Post-Graduate degree or diploma in management from the top – level institutions in India or abroad may be granted exemption from phase – I of course work. Other students would be granted exemption from particular courses based on their background & knowledge on case-to-case basis.
PHASE - II
This is the heart of the coursework to prepare the student to be serious in the field of management with special emphasis on his/her area of specialization & related areas on interest. This phase also comprises three terms of three months each. In this phase, the student undertakes three kinds of courses/activities. These are FPM Compulsory Courses. The compulsory courses are aimed at two basic skills required for the teacher researcher role. First, the student must become adept at conducting high quality research using the latest available quantitative & qualitative research methodologies for the persistent & emergent management problems in his/her area of specialization. Thus, there shall be one or two advanced courses on research methodologies & technologies. These shall, therefore, be course on communication & pedagogy. Student would also take an advanced course on Business Policy & Strategic Management to tie together their exposure to various functional management courses.
