Youth National Scholarship Programme
The National Scholarship Programme is funded by MISEREOR.
The overall goal of this programme is to help youth from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, to get employment-oriented vocational training which will help them to earn their own living, on a sustainable basis by increasing their employ-ability in the labour market.

"I am able to shape my future and working towards shaping the future of the new generation." says Sibiruli Bhrama Sibiruli Brahma, aged 25 years, from Bhalukmari village Kokrajhar district, Assam, is the youngest of eight siblings. Excellent performance of Sibiruli, in high school, inspired her father & brother to support her studies and she completed Bachelor of Arts degree from Kokrajhar.

"But having a degree in hand is not sufficient to get any job. One needs minimum computer skills these days to apply for any job. However, I was feeling ashamed to ask for anymore support from my father, when I knew many of my siblings did not even get the opportunity for higher education. My father did sufficient to support my studies." said Sibiruli.

Sibiruli's desire was fulfilled through the timely scholarship provided by IGSSS. It helped her to complete one year PGDCA (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications) and become computer literate. Additional skills earned Sibiruli the job of a government teacher.

She is now earning Rs 7,500/ month and is successfully supporting her father to run the family. She says, "IGSSS timely scholarship amount is an instrument that helps especially the poor people to acquire employable skills training, without IGSSS Scholarship, she would not be what she is today."
