FELLOWSHIP OF THE ACADEMY
During 2010, twenty four new Fellows were elected. Thus total number of Fellows as on 01.01.2011 (in the live register) has become 512, which include 47 Foreign Fellows and one Corporate Fellow.

Guidelines for Award of Fellowships
The Fellows elected in accordance with the prescribed Rules and Regulations, constitute the General Body of the Academy. With the approval of the General Body, new categories of Corporate Fellows and Corporate Members were introduced in 1998 and 2002, respectively. The purpose of this initiative was to encourage and recognize corporate and other institutions who form an important non-academic component of the NARS family and provide strong support in terms of programmes and finances for furtherance of the objectives and activities of the Academy. ** Crop Sciences, including Genetics and Plant Breeding, Plant Genetic Resources, Plant Biotechnology, Plant Physiology & Biochemistry, Seed Technology
** Horticulture Sciences, including Fruit Science, Vegetable Science, Ornamental Horticulture & landscape gardening, Plantation crops and Spices, Medicinal and Aromatic Crops (improvement, production and biotechnology)
** Animal Sciences, including Animal Genetics & Breeding, Animal Biotechnology, Animal production, Animal Health, Animal Products Technology
** Fisheries Sciences, including Fish Genetics & Breeding, Fish Nutrition, Fish Pathology, Fish Biotechnology, Fish Processing &Technology
** Natural Resource Management, including Agricultural Meteorology, Agronomy, Environmental Science, Forestry & Agroforestry, Soil Sciences and Water Management.

Procedure
The process of election of Fellows involves scrutiny of nominations at various levels resulting in declaring list of elected fellows in December.
The process of election of Fellows involves:
Level 1: Subject Matter Level Screening
Level 2: Joint COnvenors' Group Level Screening
Level 3: Executive Council Level Screening
Level 4: Final Approval by Balloting
The procedure of electing Foreign Fellows shall be the same as for the election of Fellows but the number shall be limited to two in each successive year.
