    ASPIRE SCHOLARSHIP 2011-12

    Applications are invited for the award of Aspire Scholarship Scheme for the period 2011–12 from Post Graduate/M.Phil/ Ph.D students who are studying in the University Departments, Government and Aided Colleges of Mahatma Gandhi University.

    The Scheme is intended, for doing short-term internships/ projects in institutions other than their parent Colleges/ University Departments and to give students exposure to national level research institutions and to interact with eminent scholars.

    The internships/ projects will have to be undertaken under the supervision of a scholar/scientist in the host institution. The Scholarship will be available for a minimum period of one month and to a maximum of two months depending on the nature of the internship/ project. The scholarship will be extended for two more months depending on the merit of the project.

    Scholarship will be of a monthly value of Rs. 4,000/- (Rupees Four Thousand only) for internships/projects undertaken within the State and Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only) for internships/ projects undertaken outside the State.

    Application shall be accompanied by
    1. Attested copies of qualifying certificates.
    2. Summary of the project to be undertaken.( One page)
    3. Letter of acceptance from the host institution in which internship/project is to be undertaken
    4. Attested copy of Community Certificate. (in case of SC/ST students)
    5. Attested copy of Income Certificate (for low income students only)

    Applications in the prescribed form complete in every respect shall be forwarded through the Head of the institution concerned so as to reach the undersigned on or before 09.12.2011. Late applications shall not be considered under any circumstances.

    Tell us about the various fellowships?

    J.R.F./UGC Fellowship
    (a) Eligibility: 55% marks in masters degree or equivalent examination in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science and who have qualified for the U.G.C., UGC- CSIR, GATE and similar UGC recognised National Level Tests.
    (b) Age 28 yr. Relaxation of 5 yrs for SC/ST
    (c) Emoluments: Rs. 5000/-pm for the first two years with an annual contingent grant of Rs. 5000 for Humanities and Social Sciences and Rs. 7500 for science subjects.
    Fellowship for the thrid and subsiquent years will be Rs. 5600 pm and the amount of the contingent grant will remain the same.Apart from this fellows are eligible for suitable hostel type accommodation or HRA
    (d) Tenure: 4 years; but extentable for one more year based on conditions.
    The fellow 2 yrs. (SC).

    Applications are available at the University Store. Test is held in December & June.
