Project Description
The common features of all routine screening procedure - is the primary analysis for indicator organisms and for dissolved solutes rather than the pathogens that might cause concern. Indicator organisms are bacteria such as non-specific coliforms Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa – that are very commonly found in human or animal gut and which if detected, may suggest the presence of sewage. An in-house ongoing project involved in the chemical and microbiolgical analysis of water collected from nearby lakes in Bangaluru. The principal factors that are taken into consideration wgen determining water quality are-
- Turbidity.
- COD and BOD.
- Acidity and Alkanity.
- Trace elements and nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, halogens (chlorides and fluroride ions), alkali metals (sodium and potassium ions), calcium and magnesium ions.
- Microorganisms.
- Dissolved Oxygen content (DO).
