DETAILS OF SCHEME FOR PROVIDING SCHOLARSHIP TO
SC/ST/PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED STUDENTS FOR PURSUING ENGG. DEGREE/DIPLOMA COURSES
Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., a Mini Ratna Category-1 Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, undertakes CSR Programmes/Projects under the following two Schemes for disadvantaged/marginalized sections of the society
BALMER LAWRIE INITIATIVE FOR SELF SUSTENANCE (BLISS)
The projects/programmes under BLISS are intended to provide long term and sustained sustenance/support to disadvantaged/economically backward sections of the Society, enable implementation of major sectorial development projects with long term association and drive sustained initiatives in the area of environment and green initiatives. This Scheme is administered centrally from the Corporate Office.

SAMAJ MEIN BALMER LAWRIE (SAMBAL)
The focus under SAMBAL is the overall development & improvement in quality of life of habitations and communities, particularly from the disadvantaged groups, in and around the Company's Work Centres. The areas covered under this initiative are: (a) Education and Vocational Training, (b) Health Care(including old age care), (c) Drinking water, (d) Sanitation, (e) Income Generating projects, (f) Provision of civic amenities,(g) Environmental/Green initiatives, (h) Disaster Relief & Rehabilitation, etc.
The Company as a responsible corporate citizen is committed to undertaking various CSR initiatives. As a part of the CSR initiative, the Company has decided to provide financial help to 100(one hundred) meritorious students belonging to SC/ST/Physically Challenged Categories for pursuing Engineering Degree/Diploma Courses in the following streams:
(a) Graduate Engineering Courses (BE / B.Tech or Equivalent) in Mechanical/Chemical/Civil /Electrical/ Computer Sciences in AICTE/UGC/Government Approved/Affiliated Engineering Colleges/Institutions.
(b) 3-Year Diploma Courses in Engineering in Mechanical/Chemical/Civil /Electrical/ Computer Sciences Streams in AICTE/UGC/Government Approved/Affiliated Engineering Colleges/Polytechnics/Institutions.
Note :
The Region for the purpose of this Scheme will mean the Region to which the applicant belongs.
The students will be selected for scholarship in the ratio of: SC-60%, ST-30%, Physically Handicapped-10%.
In the event adequate number of students are not available from any one Region / Category or could not be selected due to their not meeting the eligibility criteria, the quotas not met for a particular Category / Region will be filled by students from other Regions/ Categories on the basis of merit.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The student must have passed Higher Secondary/Equivalent Examination (Class-XII) OR Class-X Examination[For Diploma only] obtaining a minimum of 60% marks, and must be pursuing 1st year or 2nd year of Graduate Degree/Diploma Engineering Course in Mechanical / Chemical / Civil /Electrical/Computer Sciences in any AICTE/UGC/Government Approved/Affiliated Engineering College/Polytechnic.
A student already receiving scholarship from any other source (government or private) will not be eligible to apply for scholarship under this scheme.
QUANTUM OF SCHOLARSHIP & MODE OF DISBURSEMENT
The quantum of Scholarship to be provided to each of the students for pursuing the Degree/Diploma Course is noted below:
For Degree Course - Rs. 40,000/- per annum
For Diploma Course - Rs. 30,000/- per annum

HOW TO APPLY :
Interested students belonging to the referred Categories may apply to the Company in the prescribed application form [Appendix-A], duly attested by the Principal / Dean / Registrar / Administrative Head of their Institutions where they are pursuing the Degree/Diploma course at present, along with attested copies of the following documents:
i) Marks Sheets of High School Examination(Class-X) & Higher Secondary(Class-XII) Examination
ii) High School Board Exam.(Class-X) Admit Card or Certificate - Proof of Date of Birth.
iii) Certificate or Proof of ranking in Entrance Test for admission to Engineering Degree/Diploma Course.
iv) Certificate from competent authority regarding SC/ST/Physically Challenged Category, as the case may be.
v) Certificate from competent authority regarding BPL Category, if applicable.
vi) Certificate/Proof regarding State of Domicile/Place of Permanent Residence from Competent Authority approved by the Government.
