Indian competition back, prize money enhanced
Highlights of the festival :-
1. 12th Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short and Animation Films (MIFF) organized by Films Division is scheduled to be held from 3 - 9 February,2012 at the prestigious National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai.

2. Indian Competition Section has been revived in MIFF - 2012, to recognise the best works of Indian documentary film makers. It may be mentioned that Indian competition and International Competition were merged in 11th MIFF.
3. The award money for MIFF-2012 is enhanced in all categories. The total award money is now Rs.63.50 lac.
4. "Best Student Film Award" which was introduced in MIFF-2010 has been retained in MIFF-2012 to promote student filmmakers within India. The award money has been enhanced from Rs.25,000/- (MIFF-2010) to Rs.1.00 lac. The award is sponsored by Indian Documentary Producers' Association (IDPA).
5. In addition to the above, a "Dr.V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award" will be given to an Indian documentary film maker for his / her contribution to National documentary movement. The award comprises of a Trophy and Rs.5.00 lac as cash component.
6. In order to give a boost for documentary market, a special marketing section is being introduced in MIFF-2012.

8. On line entry facility has also been activated.
About us :
The first ever Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short and Animation Films was held in the year 1990, which was inaugurated by the then Hon'ble Vice President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma. The biennial festival is conducted with the active collaboration of Government of Maharashtra and the Indian Documentary Producer's Association. The city of Mumbai is declared as the permanent venue of the festival. MIFF. is one of the most prestigious festival for short and animation films now recognized on par with topmost International Film Festival like Leipzig, Berlin, Oberhausen, Cracow, Tampere etc.
