Every year CWIT offers upto 10 long term awards. These are to give practitioners in early or mid career a chance to gain wider experience and exposure, or to study. The balance between Arts and Heritage Conservation varies from year to year depending on demand and performance at interview.
The awards, which are generally from 2-3 months up to a maximum of a year, cover accommodation and living costs in the UK ,fees where they are payable and a contribution to international fares. CWIT does not support 2 year courses.

Who is eligible?
Applicants should
be Indian citizens living in India.
be aged between 25 and 38.
have a first degree or diploma or professional qualification in their specialization. CWIT prefers applicants significant working experience.
not have received a CWIT grant within the last 5 years.
How to Apply
Applications should be made to your nearest British Council office by Wednesday 7 December 2011 (31 December 2011 for Short Research and Professional Visits direct to CWIT by e-mail) and should include
completed application form including a Statement of Purpose ( not more than 2 pages) stating clearly in detail what you want to do in the UK or which course you plan to follow and how you plan to put this to use on returning to India.
the Statement of Purpose is important and should be as clear and explicit as possible
evidence that you have been accepted unconditionally on the course, programme, attachment or internship for which you have applied, or that progress towards acceptance has been made
evidence of a good working knowledge of English
portfolio submission where appropriate in either CD/DVD or hard copy format
Which fields of the Arts and Heritage Conservation does CWIT cover?
Arts
Visual arts
Performance eg dance, drama, music, directing
Film- including script writing and direction
Photography
Design ( but not architecture)
Heritage Conservation
Conservation architecture
Management of heritage projects or sites
Conservation of materials such as timber, stone, metal ( including metal structures), textiles, paper, armour, and paintings , photographs and film
Conservation of landscape
Management of Museums and collections
CWIT supports internships for conservators eg at Tate Conservation Department conservation.enquiries@tate.org.uk or programmes of visits. However applicants are responsible for making their own practical and professional arrangements including travel and accommodation in the UK
Applicants (for long term awards) shortlisted on the basis of their applications will be invited by the British Council to attend an interview in Delhi in March 2012. The panels of Indian experts are chaired by CWIT. Results of the interviews are announced by early April.
