Mumbai City Level Quiz Contest for CA students

The Western India Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is organising the Mumbai City Level with the Quiz Contest for CA Students at ICAI Bhavan ,27 Cuffe Parade, Colaba, Mumbai 400 005.

Details of the contest are as follows:
Students registered with Institute, either for Final Course under the Old Scheme of Education and Training, Professional Competence Course and Final Course under the New Scheme of Education and Training are eligible to participate in the contest.

However, a person who has qualified in the Final Examination and completed articles/or audit training is not eligible to participate.
Medium of Quiz Contest would be English. However, if any participant wants to speak in Hindi the option will be given.
Depending on the response from the students, they will be divided into groups. Each group will consist of two students.
There will be a maximum of five teams, each team consisting of 2 students. If there are more participants, the five teams will be selected by a process of elimination. There will be 8 rounds of quiz contests covering the following areas:
* Accounting
* Auditing
* Corporate loss
* Taxation-Direct and Indirect
* Costing/Management accounting for financial management
* Information technology
* Economics
* General awareness

Additionally there will be a rapid fire round.

Three questions will be asked in each round to each team. The students will be given 60 seconds for answering each of the questions.

In each round, the questions will be addressed turn-by-turn to each team. For example Q. No -1 will be addressed to Team A . If Team A answers the question correctly, then Q. No 2 will be addressed to Team B. If Team A does not answer Q. No 1 correctly, the question will pass on to Team B.

A question will pass only once and there will be no subsequent passing.

As usual, Q. NO 2 will be addressed to Team B; Q. NO 3 will be addressed to Team C and so on.

At the end there shall be a Rapid Fire round in which five questions will be addressed to each team. Each team will be given one minute to answer all the five questions instantaneously. Students may choose not to answer questions. There will be no passing in Rapid Fire round.

Each question shall carry five marks. Two marks shall be awarded for questions which have been passed.

The Quiz contest will be conducted by a Professional Quiz Master.

Winners of the Branch/Mumbai level Quiz Contest will be eligible to participate in the Regional Level Contest.

The date of the Regional Level Quiz Contest will be announced in due course.

A team of 2 students will be selected from each such regional competition to participate in the Final All India competition.

Prizes and certificates
Prizes and certificates would be awarded to the winners of the Regional Level and the Final Level quiz contests.

Reimbursement of expenses
No separate reimbursement is envisaged in respect of expenses incurred in organising branch/Mumbai City Level competition

Branch level winners travelling to regional offices for participating in the Regional Level Contest and regional level winners travelling to participate in the All India Contest will be reimbursed to and fro two tier A/C railway fare by the shortest route in trains including Rajdhani /Shatabdi Express or by plane (whichever is less) and also be paid an allowance at the rate of Rs. 1500/-per day for a maximum five days to meet the incidental expenses.

Accommodation

Students are to make their own arrangements for their stay at regional offices as well as at the place where the final contest will be held.
