Project Description : -The approach in this project focuses on methods of image processing, pattern recognition and computer vision algorithms to be applied to road traffic analysis and monitoring.
One of the main aspects was to modify these algorithms to fit to real-time road monitoring processes, and as a consequence the prototype of system for traffic analysis was developed. Capabilities of the system include vehicle tracking, vehicle speed measurement (without use of traditional sensors), and recognition of license plate numbers of moving vehicles.
The real-time measurement of traffic queue parameters are required in many traffic situations such as accident and congestion monitoring and adjusting the timings of the traffic lights.
