Applications are invited upto 19th October 2011 for four posts of Scientist ‘C’ in the Pay Band PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 + Grade Pay Rs.6600/- at the ICMR’s National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (formerly Tuberculosis Research Centre), Chennai :

Name of the post : Scientist ‘C’ (Medical)
Number of vacancies : Four
Age as on 19.10.11 : Not exceeding 40 years

Qualifications :
(i) MBBS degree in required discipline recognized by MCI from a recognized University
(ii) Four years R&D experience in the related subject after obtaining essential qualification

Job Requirements : Candidate is expected to design and develop independent research projects in addition to participating in ongoing clinical trials and operational research studies in the fields of TB and HIV- TB co-infection. The candidate should be able to carry out multi centric studies and manage administrative responsibility. Physician will have to take primary responsibility for day to day care of trial patients as well as participate in research activities. Candidates with high motivation for research are required.

in person or downloaded from ICMR website www.icmr.nic.in, www.trc-chennai.org on or before the closing date. Application forms duly completed in all respects and signed by the applicant should be sent on the above mentioned address and should reach the Institute on or before the closing date along with attested copies of the certificates in support of date of birth, educational qualification, experiences etc. and a crossed Demand Draft for Rs.100/- (Rupees One hundred only) drawn in favour of Director in Charge, National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, Chennai payable at Canara Bank, Egmore, Chennai. SC/ST and physically handicapped candidates (PH) are exempted from the application fee payable in form of DD. DDs are payable by all other candidates including ICMR employees. Incomplete/late applications or without Demand Drafts will not be entertained. Application received after the closing date for whatever reason is liable to be rejected. Application with evidence for proof of age (HSC certificate), educational qualifications and supporting documents of experiences to be furnished for consideration. Unsigned/Incomplete application or application without supportive evidence asked for/without Demand Draft application received late shall be summarily rejected.

NOTE :
1) MD degree in subjects relevant to Indian Council of Medical Research shall be treated equivalent to three years experience.
2) Candidates with MD degree will be preferred for direct recruitment.
3) If no suitable candidate is found at Scientist ‘C’ level, the Director General, ICMR reserves the right to appoint a person at Scientist ‘B’ level.
4) Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview/personal discussion, the applicants will be short-listed for this purpose. The decision of the Director General, ICMR will be final in this regard. Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection/recruitment shall be treated as disqualification. These posts are with all India transfer liability under the Council.
