Manager - Logistics :
Job Description :
A functional specialist in the area of logistics well versed with shipping and clearance activities and had hands on experience in moving goods containerized or break bulk by sea/ rail/ road and air . He should have a good understanding of various processes involved in the imports and exports area and is able to communicate effectively with customs and excise authorities. He should have working knowledge of insurance and claims management. He should have a good man management skill. Should be computer savvy and well versed with MS office suite
Skills Required :
Negotiating with transporters, freight forwarders and CHAs for annual rate contract for dispatch and receipt of consignments both imported and indigenous. He shall make similar arrangements for export of finished goods and realization of money in consultation with marketing and finance departments.
He should be thorough in shipping and clearance and all the necessary documentation, inward and outward.
LEAN management and overall cost reduction in all the relevant areas.
Insurance claim management including providing coverage to all insurable goods and follow up there for
Identify and organize for training of his staff in the related areas.
Qualification & Experience :
Engineering graduate or post graduate in science / commerce with relevant experience of about 8 to 10 years.
Diploma in materials management / supply chain would be desirable

Warehouse Manager :
Job Description :
Commerce graduate / post graduate with good understanding of materials management. He should be able to devise / facilitate a good ware housing establishment and for effective material handling procedures to optimize the utilization of resources. A good understanding or all the commercial codes and taxation are essential.
Skills Required :
Shall be responsible for all the warehousing activities like proper receipt, inspection, storage, retrieval systems in the ware house.
Shall ensure compliance of all statutory obligations with respect to various statutory authorities including Excise.
Shall track and coordinate and capture all the material both in the Raw material warehouse, WIP and FG.
Shall monitor inventory and take steps to ensure a healthy inventory system.
Arrange for Scrap and surplus disposal in consultation with various departments concerned.
Qualification & Experience :
Graduate or post graduate in science / commerce with relevant experience of about 10 to 12 years.
Diploma in materials management / supply chain would be desirable

- Sattva CFS : Visited Sattva Container Freight Station on 02 August 2008 and observed the arranging and the re-arranging of containers by using reach stackers.
- Marshalling Yard and CONCOR : Visited the Marshalling yard and Container Corporation of India Limited at Tondiarpet on 09 August 2008 and observed the process of marshalling yard and seen the various types of carriers, and also observed the domestic warehouse and rail network linked to the warehouse.
- Ashok Leyland Warehouse : Observed the wide processes of warehouse operations on 19 September 2008.
- Southern Railways Control Room : Visited Control Room and observed controlling of Railways Network (Route allocation and Timing) of Chennai division on 26 September 2008.
