    ADVERTISEMENT NO. NISCAIR-1/VII/2011

    Applications are invited for filling up the post of Junior Hindi Translator (01 UR) (One post UR) in the PB-2 of Rs. 9300-34800 with GP-Rs. 4200 , at NISCAIR .

    The essential qualification of the post is as under :
    Master's degree of a recognised University in Hindi/English with English/Hindi as main subjects at the degree level.
    OR
    Master's degree of a recognised University in any subject with Hindi as the medium of instruction and examination with English as a compulsory subject at degree level.
    OR
    Bachelor's degree with Hindi and English as main subjects or either of the two as medium of examination and other as a main subject plus recognised Diploma/Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa or two years experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central/State Government Offices, including Government of India Undertakings.

    How to Apply :
    Application forms can be downloaded from NISCAIR Website www.niscair.res.in. OR can be obtained from National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR), Pusa Campus, Dr. K S Krishnan Marg, New Delhi –110012 in person or by sending a request along with a self-addressed envelop affixed with postage stamps of Rs.10/-. Request for issue of application form by post received after 13/08/2011 will not be entertained.

    Applications completed in all respects, in the prescribed form along with application fee in the form of DD for Rs.100/-(Non-refundable) for general and OBC category candidate valid for at least 6 months, drawn in favour of the Director, NISCAIR, payable at New Delhi , should be sent in a sealed cover superscribed with “Application for the post of Junior Hindi Translator” to:

    I am a senior bilingual (English & Hindi) media professional. In my about 15-year career-span, I have worked with some well-known names in the Indian media industry, including "The Times of India", "Hindustan Times", "Press Trust of India" (Business Desk) and "Today’s Traveller" (a travel & lifestyle magazine), New Delhi.
    It was my two-year stint as a NEWS READER-cum-TRANSLATOR (Amateur) with "All India Radio", Patna that brought me to the doorsteps of media industry and I started my quest with the Nagpur-based English news daily, "The Lokmat Times".
    Having worked for almost all Desks in a newspaper/media concern, in the later phase of my career, I opted for the Business & Finance Desk and contributed to this specialised stream, both independently and as a team leader.
    I wrote several news-/features on as varied topics as IT Sector & BPO, Agriculture & Rural Development, and Hospitality and Aviation industries, apart from a number of travelogues.

    Responsibilities : I was associated with this news daily right since its inception, and was assigned the task of producing Business & Finance sections—spread over nine pages—with the help of a small team.
