Energy Conservation in HINDALCO Using Variable Frequency
Drive Application
The main objective of this project is to conserve energy by incorporating control devices such as Variable Frequency Drives, PID controllers.
In alumina process plant for the production of hydrate (alumina with moisture content) large number of huge precipitator tanks is used. In these tanks hydrate slurry is continuously agitated using compressed air .Compressed air plays a vital role which is required for the agitation of hydrate slurry in this alumina plant. The generation of compressed air is one of the major energy consuming activities. Thus energy can be conserved by installation of VFD which facilitates to reduce or increase the compressor speed depending on the requirement.
