Ph.D PROGRAMME FOR CSIR-UGC NET (JRF) QUALIFIED CANDIDATES

Inter University Accelerator Centre is an inter-University user facility under UGC for accelerator based research mainly in areas of Nuclear Physics, Material Science, Atomic Physics, Radiation Biology, Radiation Physics and Accelerator Physics. Details of the facilities are available in web site www.iuac.ernet.in. A walk in interview is being arranged for CSIR-UGC NET (JRF) qualified students (2010 or later) M.Sc in Physics (2009 or later) at Inter University Accelerator Centre on 25th July, 2011 at 10.00 AM. The candidates must bring a copy of his/her bio-data along with copies of mark sheets and the letter regarding NET qualification. The selected students will be required to join immediately in the Ph.D. Programme in Nuclear Physics, Atomic Physics, Material Science, Radiation Physics and Accelerator Physics. The student is expected to finish Ph.D within four years from the date of joining. Selected candidates will be provided free hostel accommodation and fellowship as per CSIR/UGC norms. Candidates may also send their bio-data to Ph.D. Programme Co-ordinator at the address below or at mandal@iuac.res.in if they satisfy the above criteria. To and fro sleeper class train fare will be paid as per rules. Reservation as per UGC Guidelines. About us :
The basic objective of Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) is to provide front ranking accelerator based research facilities to create possibilities for internationally competitive research within the university system. While the phase I of IUAC was to commission a tandem accelerator to provide accelerated ion beams over a wide mass region, the maximum energy of ions from the Pelletron (~ 200-250 MeV) limits the research program for both nuclear physics and materials science. A superconducting LINAC booster was planned in early 90s for future augmentation of the Pelletron.
