Guidance for CCNA (Hardware & networking) : [Query]

I wanted this information about hardware and networking field. The thing is I am deeply interested in computers but I am in retail sales for last 7 years. I realized that I don’t enjoy it a bit and want to pursue career as a networking professional. But the problem is I am 28 now and I have been working in retail for 7 years now . But one thing is for sure that I cant continue in the retail. so its better late than never. So that lastly at some point of time in life I would be satisfied. Now my main concern is
what are the prospects of getting job at this age after doing ccna?
I know I can excel in networking. So does the expertise matters more or the proper timing?
The other thing is can I do ccna directly without doing a basic hardware networking diploma or mcse,?
Will there be value of directly doin ccna ?
