    Advertisement for the post of Director,

    Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialization (MGIRI), Wardha

    Applications are invited from eligible candidates for filling up of the post of Director, Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialization (MGIRI) located at Wardha, having all India Jurisdiction. MGIRI is a national level Institute under the administrative control of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and is mandated to accelerate the process of rural industrialization in India. The Director is expected to head the national institute involved in R&D extension services concerning rural industrialization and to coordinate various interfaces with other reputed national level institutions and provide leadership in making Indian rural industries globally competitive through innovation, creativity, productivity, quality and entrepreneurship. The details of the post are as under:-

    Scale of pay : Rs.37,400-67,000/- (Grade Pay – Rs.10,000/-)

    Essential and Minimum qualifications/experience :
    Essential qualification :-
    Ph.D in Science, Engineering or Management (with Science & Technology background) first class or equivalent grade at the preceding degree with very good academic record throughout.

    Experience :-
    15 years’ teaching or research in industry or rural technology Development, of which 5 years should be at the level of Chief Scientific Officer.
    An outstanding Engineer/Technocrat/ Scientist working in industry or Non Government Organization (NGO)/ Research Laboratory with established reputation and who has made significant contribution to the field of rural industrialization, but not having a Ph.D Degree or first class in preceding degree would also be considered in exceptional cases.

    Age limit : Direct recruitment:- The upper age limit shall be 62 years as on 01.10.2011. The superannuation age shall be 65 years.

    M.Sc Project :
    “Tannase production of Mucor sp. and its application in leather” (Central Leather Research institute)
    Project work deals about isolation of microbes from tannery effluent making use of its enzyme called tannase in leather making technology. The optimization of ph, temperature, time, growth in different media, partial purification,isolation of protein, SEM, techniques in leather tanning was learned throught the work.
    Ph.D Work :
    “ Antimicrobial and Anticancer properties of endophytic fungus Chaetomium atrobrunneum Ames isolated from Michelia champaka L”
    The fungus isolated from medicinal plant optimized for radial growth,growth under different submerged conditions,temperature and ph.The extracellular secondary metabolites production of the fungus was confirmed by T.L.C,H.P.L.C analysis, u-v,I-R, GC-MS and NMR. The antimicrobial activity of the obtained compounds used against Candida albicans,Staphylococcus aureus,Pseudomonas sp,Serratia sp.And the cytotoxicity studies carried out in HEP2 and MCF7 cancer cells for those obtained compounds.
