ALC India is a management consulting and development organization comprising a group of self motivated and passionate consultants with prime focus on enabling sustainable livelihoods for economically marginalized (rural and urban). ALC India (www.alcindia.org) aims at five outcomes – enterprise, employment, economy, equity and empowerment. By Mar 2014, it hopes to reach 1 million households (1 Lakh Directly and 9 Lakh Indirectly) through variety of services.
Designation : Unit Head - Senior Consultant
Compensation : 35,000 – 55,000 gross salary per month (depending on the experience and sectoral knowledge)
Location : Ranchi, Lucknow and Bhuj (kuchchh)
Experience : 7 - 12 years
All recruits will be inducted for 3 months (probation period), at Head Office in Hyderabad, post which his/her performance will be evaluated. During the induction (probation period) a consolidated pay ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per month is offered. Induction assessment will be carried out and his/her pay will revised and a final contract letter will be offered.
Unit Heads are expected to have independent economic development agenda. They should be willing to pursue the agenda for priority vulnerable communities as identified by ALC India strategic plan dispassionately. ALC India, provides complete freedom to Unit Heads in determining the scale and scope of the work (well within the broader agenda set for ALC India). The Unit Heads will be given complete freedom to set agenda, generate resources, develop collaborations and nurture the unit the way one intends to do within the value system developed as common code of conduct at ALC India. The key performance parameters for Unit Heads –
1. Outreach of programs – both direct (implementation) or indirect (support services)
2. Scale of resources mobilized (finance, human, knowledge – skill, infrastructure)
3. Viable management of the unit
ALC India believes that for better service to the vulnerable communities regional presence is important and it is also an important means of scaling up its own operations and outreach. At the same time realizing well that development is a process we would like to expand as small independent units in each state interdependent on each other for leveraging resources, scale and knowledge. ALC India is interested in registering each regional unit as independent entity with stakes to the Unit Head and core team that gets formed.
The general operational activities are described below.
Job Description :
• Provide management support services to development agencies, enterprises – including social enterprises and producer companies and employment generation programs
• Engage with rural and urban economically marginalized communities in projects for promotion of livelihoods
• Generate business for the organization and make the unit viable
• Prepare policies and strategies favorable to the organization and ensure compliance with them
• Work with teams, guide and motivate them for on time, qualitative delivery
• Support in creating business plans for grass root level organizations
• Organize trainings for the staff and conduct appraisals
• Identify and recruit new consultants as and when required
• Report to the head office on a fortnightly basis regarding business generation, status of ongoing projects, cash inflow and outflow statements and the plan ahead
Job Specifications :
• Individuals from an Institution of repute, preferably an MBA with rural management or agriculture management
• Should possess at least 7 years relevant experience
• Should have sound fundamental knowledge on management functions including financial management and project management aspects
• Should possess good communication skills
• Knowledge of multiple languages will be added advantage
• Should have good command over MS Office
• Should be willing to travel 10 -15 days in a month as per project requirements
