Applications are invited for filling up following temporary project positions purely in project mode in the ICMAM Project Directorate, Chennai, an attached office of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) initially for a period of one year extendable further based on performance as per details given below :

Application should be typed on a thick plain paper in the format given below. It should be supported with a passport size photograph along with attested copies of certificates of educational qualifications, training and experience etc., and the same should be sent to the Project Director, ICMAM Project Directorate, Ministry of Earth Sciences, 2nd Floor, NIOT Campus, Velachery- Tambaram Main Road, Pallikaranai, Chennai 600 100 in a cover superscribed “Application for Project Scientist/SRFs/JRFs along with Reference Number” so as to reach this Directorate within 15 days from the date of publication of the advertisement in the Employment News / National dailies whichever is published later. Applications without the certificates and photograph are summarily rejected.

I. Shoreline Management
1. Project Scientists-I : 2 Nos Ref: PS/SLM
Place of posting; Chennai or at any other location in India
Emoluments : Rs.36,000/- p.m (inclusive of HRA).
Essential Qualification : First Class Master’s Degree in Oceanography with Physical Oceanography or First Class B.E/B.Tech in Engineering/Technology with subjects relevant to Coastal Engineering, and 2 years of research experience in field data collection, analysis and numerical modeling of oceanographic parameters, as evidenced by minimum of one publication in research journals.

II. Marine Ecotoxicology
1. Project Scientist-II
Number of Post 1 No : Ref: PS/ME
Place of posting : Chennai or at any other location in India
Emoluments : Rs.38,000/- p.m (inclusive of HRA)
Essential Qualification : Ph D in Marine Science/Environmental Toxicology or First Class M.Sc in Marine Science/ Environmental Toxicology from recognized university with 3 years of experience in Pollution studies.

III. Ecosystem Modeling including Bio-geochemistry
1. Project Scientist-I : 3 Posts Ref: PS/ESM
A. Specialization : Analytical chemistry or with Chemical Oceanography/
Marine Sciences (2 Post)
Emoluments : Rs.36,000/- p.m (inclusive of HRA)
Essential Qualification : First Class Master’s Degree in chemistry / Chemical Oceanography/ Marine Sciences with 2 years experience in research relating to nutrients, trace metals and organic chemicals in the marine environment, as evidenced by minimum one publication in research journals.

IV. Training
Project Scientist-IV : 1 Post Ref: PS/TRG
Specialization : GIS and remote sensing application in coastal zone studies or Marine
Pollution research
Emoluments : Rs.75,000/- p.m Consolidated (inclusive of HRA)
Essential Qualification : First Class Master’s Degree in Technology with minimum of 10 years of Experience in application of remote sensing and GIS in coastal water research, or Ph.D in Marine Sciences and oceanography with 8 years of experience in research relating to nutrients, trace metals and organic chemicals in the marine environment. The field of specialization should be evidenced by publications.
