DAC Course Information

Diploma in Advanced Computing (DAC) focuses on existing users of computers who wish to venture out into the world of Advanced Computing. The course is designed keeping in view the emerging trends in advanced computing and the contemporary and futuristic human resource requirements of the IT industry.

Qualification:
BE / ME or Equivalent (AMIE, AIETE), B.Sc (Engg), MCA, MCS, MSc (Electronics), MSc (Instrumentation), MCM (with B.Sc.), MBA (Systems), BCS, BSc (IT), BSc (Comp. Sc.), BCA, BIS (Bachelor of Internet Sciences), Bachelor Of E-Commerce.

Computing Background :
Sound knowledge of Computing Fundamentals and Fundamentals of Programming is essential. The applicant must also be conversant with Object Oriented Programming concepts and must be proficient with C
Programming.

Waiver for appearing for the CET :
The candidate with a valid score in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by IIT(s) and / or Competency in Software Technology (CST) conducted by erstwhile National Centre for Software Technology (NCST) are eligible for a waiver in appearing for the CET. The Gate score for Computer Science stream and CST score for “I” level and above pertaining to the last two examinations will only be considered for the waiver. Candidates who wish to apply under the CET waiver scheme need to fill in the application form online (recommended) at http://acts.cdac.in and submit the registration fees of Rs.350 / - by a Demand Draft drawn in favor of 'C-DAC, ACTS' payable at Pune. Candidates applying for the CET waiver scheme by filling in the manual (Handwritten) application form need to submit a DD of Rs.500 /- towards registration fees for the CET.

Candidates with a valid GATE/CST score can either appear for CET or avail the CET waiver facility. Candidate must not apply for both CET and CET waiver, this will be treated as double registration and he/she will be disqualified for the course and the registration will be treated as cancelled automatically. No separate communication shall be made regarding the disqualification.

C-DAC's application form for the Common Entrance Test (CET), is to be filled online at http://gatewayeducation.in (recommended). The registration fee of Rs.350/- for the CET is to be paid by DD drawn in favor of ‘C-DAC, ACTS’ payable at Pune and sent to

Candidates are required to give the details on the backside of the Demand Draft like:
Name of the Candidate,
Registration ID,
the course applied for i.e. DAC AUG 2006 batch.

Printed Application Forms along with the instruction sheet are also available free of cost at all the Training Centers offering the DAC course. Candidates can fill in the printed application form and attach a Demand Draft of Rs.500/- towards registration fees for the CET along with a recent passport size photograph and submit the same at any of the training centres offering the DAC course or the same can be sent by speed post / courier only to the address mentioned above. For appearing for the DAC-CET, candidates are required to download and print the admit card.Candidates filling in the Manual (Handwritten) Application Form must submit the passport size photograph along with the Application Form.
An additional Photo Identification (like Driving License /Voters ID card /College ID Card /Passport) will have to be produced by the candidate along with the admit card, at the time of appearing for the online CET at the exam center

Please note that you should register only once. Also you can appear for any one of the two CETs. Any deviation from this rule will disqualify you for admission to any of the centers, unconditionally. Any fees paid by you will also be forfeited. No correspondence shall be made in this regard.

Syllabus for Common Entrance Test:

Section I: Computing Fundamentals (10 marks):
Evolutions of computers, Computer generations, Computer organization, Primary and Secondary storage, Input-output devices, Computer software, Operating systems, Data communications and computer networking, Multimedia, Classification of computers, and so on.
Section II: Fundamentals of Programming (10 marks) :
Algorithms, Flowcharts, Computer languages, System implementation and operation, File organizations and Data processing, and so on.
Section III: Programming in C (50 marks) :
Introductory concepts, C Fundamentals, Operators and Expressions, Data Input and Output, Control statement, Functions, Arrays, Pointers, Structures and Unions, Arrays, Stacks, Queues and Linked Lists (Single, double, Circular), and so on.
Section IV :Object Oriented Programming Concepts (20 marks) :

Understanding of the object oriented concepts, such as Classes and Objects, Generalizations, Polymorphism, Abstract Classes and Re-usability , and so on.
Section V :VB Programming (20 marks) :
Understanding of the object oriented concepts, such as Classes and Objects, Generalizations, Polymorphism, Abstract Classes and Re-usability , and so on. Section VI: General Aptitude (40 marks) :
Questions shall be modeled on the GMAT pattern

As far as I can see, ther is no correspondence office in Ahmedabad directly. However they seem to conduct the C-DAC through ATC (Authorised Training center).
