    National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as ‘Beri-Beri’ Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a "Deficiency Disease Enquiry" and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged "Nutrition Research Laboratories" (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.

May 2010-July 2010 Only less than 1/3rd of the respondents have complete knowledge of Malaria.LLINs have been provided to the community under study since 3 months.A non parametric correlation showed Net use by any particular person inside a family is only moderately related to his knowledge of Malaria but the difference in using different type of net(LLIN,ITN,Normal Net) and non-use of any net is significantly associated with knowledge of Malaria.Only half of all the selected person inside a family have slept under LLIN the previous night.The main reason for not using LLIN as described by the respondents is Inadequate space inside room.The study showed a good percentage of pregnant women and under 5 children are using LLIN
