PROJECTS AND ORIENTATION PROGRAMMES ATTENDED
Project 1(Academic) : Contouring project conducted by the college in Neral, Mumbai. The duration of the project was one week. We were taught how to make contours of mountain and valley ranges.
Project 2 (Academic) : Our class was taken to Bhatsa Dam from where the major population of Mumbai receives water supply. It is one of the largest dams in Maharashtra. We were shown the major component systems of the dam and the turbine and pump house from where the water is pumped.
Project 3 (Academic) : We were taken to a bridge construction site near Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road commonly known as JVLR. The site was proposed to be expanded from 4 lanes to 6 lanes. We were shown how reinforcement is put in cement concrete on site called in site construction. Pile driving for foundation in bridge site was also explained.
Industrial Orientation 1 : Visited the water treatment plant from where Mumbai receives its treated water supply, saw the various purification processes involved in the purification cycle.
Industrial Orientation 2 : Visited the sewage treatment plant and were shown the various processes involved in treating the sewage supplied to the treatment plant.
Final Academic Project : Our group consisting of 5 students had done a thorough analysis of effective Project Management and Cost Effectiveness on a site where a hotel was being constructed. We were able to reduce the total cost of the construction by a considerable amount though theoretically. We had titled our project as management and handling of construction materials on Site.
