LABORATORY MANAGER JOB’S DESCRIPTION
The Laboratory Manager reports directly to the General Manager of the Company and he is managing the Mechanical testing laboratory located in Doha, Qatar.
1/ Company Profile :
EADS/Institut de Soudure is a JV between EADS and Institut de Soudure to provide to the Qatari market the following services : 1) Inspection, 2) Testing (NDT & DT), 3) Expertise & 4) training.
Institut de Soudure has more than 860 employees, 30 locations in France, 8 international Offices, 11 training centers, 8,000m² of laboratories.
Institut de Soudure has a high level of expertise in many key fields : Material and their in-service behavior, Joining technologies, Non-Destructive testing, Pressure equipment regulations.
In the frame of work of the development of its mechanical testing laboratory located in Doha, EADS/Institut de Soudure is looking for its Laboratory Manager to lead and develop the activities linked with the Mechanical & Metallurgical Testing.

2/ Mission and responsibility :
The laboratory technical manager has overall responsibility for the technical operations and the provision of the resources needed to ensure the required quality of laboratory operations.
He is responsible for organizational and administrative aspect of the laboratory as well as to contribute to the testing performance with the team in place and manage directly the client’s demands.

3/ Technical Aspects :
- Manage Metallurgical & Mechanical testing in Qatar Labs.
- Manage performance of chemical analysis, CTOD and corrosion testing by other labs from IS group.
- Prepares and updates equipment’s instruction and operation.
- Manage calibration and verification of laboratory equipments.
- Manage Jobs with Clients from Client Request to Invoicing.
- Informs customers of any delay or major deviations in the performance of the tests.
- Reviews and validates mechanical test results and metallographic examinations done by lab technician or subcontractors.
- Compiles, checks and signs test reports.
- Transmits Test reports to customers.
- Project Close-out.

4/ Quality Aspects :
- Proceeds to contract review of customers’ order.
- Open nonconformance files when necessary.
- Take decision for non-conformity correction in relation with the Quality Manager.
- Implements and ensure implementation of internal procedures.
- Follows Personnel’s authorization.
- Control the status of regulatory, standards, codes, normative documents and customer’s requirements.
- Ensure implementation of the Quality Plan.
- Proposes Preventive and corrective actions to avoid recurrent or potential problems to occurs.
- Manage the ISO 17025 Accreditation Renewal and Main Client’s Audit.

5/ Safety Aspects :
- Ensures that laboratory’s personnel apply safety rules related to equipments and chemical reagents uses.
- Ensure provision of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets).


6/ Qualification :
Laboratory Technical Manager must have the following qualification :
** Bachelors Degree or Master Degree in Metallurgy


7/ Skills and experiences required :
Laboratory Technical Manager must have
** General and practical knowledge on procedures and methods for :
- Mechanical tests,
- Metallographic examinations,
- Corrosion testing,

** Competence in implementing the Quality Plan and maintaining a quality standard.
** Experience in preparation and Audit for lab accreditation according to ISO17025 will be appreciated.
** Manage Client Audits.
** Team leader, organized, autonomous, client oriented.

** Experience
2 to 4 years experiences in similar function is required,
Middle East Experience would be appreciated.
