Bush Pressing & Lip Seal Crimping
This project involved pressing of a bush into a housing. Poke Yoke sensors were used for part presence. Hydro pneumatics based press was used to press the component. Load vs Displacement was plotted using a TOX Controller by measuring the load from a load cell and the displacement from a LVDT.

Crimping & Final Assembly :
This project involved pressing of a cap to crimp it onto a drive member. Hydro pneumatic based press was used to press the component. There were 3 Processes – Half-moon washer presence, rubber washer presence and cap crimping. Half-moon washer is detected using a profile sensor, rubber washer is detected using a displacement sensor and crimping load is captured using a load cell

This project involved pressing of a end cap into a Drive Assembly (ORC). Poke Yoke sensors were used for part presence. Servo Screwdriver was used to screw into drive shaft. After completion of screwing operation, oil is filled into drive shaft using an oil dispenser. After completion of both operations, cap is pressed into the drive assembly. Cap pressing load is captured using a load cell

Gear and Housing Assembly system
This project involved checking the actuator axle gear orientation and pressing onto housing.
A vision sensor was used to check the orientation of three gears placed by the operator.
After checking the orientation, the gear is pressed into housing.

Holder Insertion
This project involved pressing of holder, magnets and shunt into yoke. Vision Sensor is used to check presence and orientation of the six magnets & shunt. After checking presence and orientation, the holder is pressed into the yoke.

Automated Test Equipment
Motor Testing Machine:
This project involved automated testing of Automotive DC Motors. There were 8 Tests – No Load Speed, No Load Current, Terminal Resistance, Load Speed, Load Current, Load Toque, Cogging Torque, SV Current measurement. The system consisted of a rotary table. An induction motor with a locating system was used for indexing the rotary table.

Run-in & Hi-Pot Test System:
This system involved automated testing of Automotive DC Motors. The Run-in test involved running the motor first in clockwise direction and then in anti-clockwise direction to measure the current drawn under load. The Hi-Pot test involved testing the leakage current (short between body and terminals) of the motor by applying a high voltage (750V AC) to it. The system consisted of a rotary table in which four components used to be tested at a time in each station.

Alternator Electrical Performance Test
This project was to test various parameters of an alternator. The tests involved “Charge lamp test”, to check if the ignition lamp goes off due to voltage induced by rotation of the alternator, “Full load test” where the voltage is kept constant and the current is measured and compared with a set point and “Regulator test” where the current is kept constant and voltage is measured and compared with a set point.

Axial Play Correction System
This project involved correction of axial play in Automotive DC Motors. In order to correct axial play, first the play had to be measured. This was done using a non-contact analog displacement sensor. After measurement, the axial play was corrected by pressing a pinion into the motor shaft using a servo motor controlled press. This process of measurement and correction of axial play is repeated until axial play reaches the desired limit.

Case Bearing Servo Press
This project involved pressing of a bearing into a motor case. Poke Yoke sensors were used for part presence. Servo motor based press was used to press the component. Load vs Displacement was plotted using a NI DAQ by measuring load from a load cell and displacement from the motor encoder. The servo drive receives pulse and direction signals from the PLC based on which the motor moves up or down
