Bangalore: A job fair for everyone, from “sweepers to software engineers”, has been organised by Mahalakshmi Layout MLA N.L. Narendra Babu. The Udyog Mela will be held on March 26 and 27 at Vivekananda Playground, Dr. M.C. Modi Road.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, he claimed that the Udyog Mela concept was first introduced by him in his constituency when N. Dharam Singh was Chief Minister. “The concept picked up and has now been scaled up to the State level.”

He said at least 20 companies were expected to attend the mela. “We plan to focus on creating employment avenues for graduates and undergraduates.”

On the same day, several programmes had been organised to celebrate International Women's Day.

Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Motamma was likely to preside over the programme. Women achievers from various fields would be felicitated on the occasion, he said.

Water scarcity
Later, Mr. Babu complained about the severe drinking water shortage in many areas coming under his constituency. “We need at least three jetting machines. I raised the issue with Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) Minister S. Suresh Kumar. He assured me that water would be supplied through tankers. However, BWSSB officials complain about lack of tankers,” he said.

If the water issue of the area was not solved soon, he threatened to stage a demonstration outside the BWSSB office.

Project Title Side Information Generation In Distributed Video Coding

Project Description Distributed Video coding (DVC) is new coding paradigm for video compression, which is receiving lots of interests in present days due to its attractive and promising features. Most of the DVC solutions have been reported in various literatures are Stanford based. The performance of DVC has a great reliance on the accuracy of side-information (SI). Side-information generation is a major function in the DVC scheme. The performance mainly depends on the SI generation. So, getting Side Information is a challenging task in these days. For some applications, it is essential a low power consumption both at the encoder and decoder sides, e.g. in mobile camera phones. In other types of applications, notably when there is a high number of encoders and only one decoder, e.g. surveillance, low cost encoder devices are necessary. We proposed Novel Algorithm for Side Information in DVC, based on Content Based Analysis like Feature, Motion, and Contour. By using Content Based analysis the study of image analysis gives the whole content of the video signal.
Some more information is obtained with the help of Content Based Analysis which is not obtained by the conventional Motion Estimation Techniques. Content analysis can provide something more besides the motion information to make the side information more closely to the original information.
The proposed algorithm, consists of five stages i.e. Classification, Feature Extraction as well as object tracking, Motion Vector Determination, and Overlapped Block Motion Compensation (OBMC). First feature vectors are estimated by segmenting the frame into different occluding components .Then, the feature vectors are carefully chosen in order to minimize the distance in between the two consecutive frames of video sequence. The Feature motion vector and linear motion vector obtained by foreground and background has been fed through the OBMC to get the complete Overlapped motion compensation of the frame, which reduces the blocking artifacts. The results show significant consistent performance improvement regarding the state-of-the-art WZ and Standard Video Codec especially under critical conditions such as high motion content.
