Job Fair in Bangalore 2011 for Non-Graduates : IIJT Indian Institute of Job Training
Date : 26-March-2011
Venue : Malleswaram centre, The Indian Institute of Job Training (IIJT),
City : Bangalore
Here is some good news for unemployed youth who do not have a bachelor’s degree. More and more companies are eager to tap the skills and talents of these youth, and provide them with various job opportunities.
The Indian Institute of Job Training (IIJT), a vocational skills training company, is hosting a job fair for youth with zero to five years of experience, at its Malleswaram centre. The event, said to be the first of its kind for youth who are not graduates, is slated to be held on Saturday.
The host of the fair is expecting about 1,000 candidates to take part in the event. About 10 companies including Shoppers’ Stop, ING Vysa, Ernst & Young, Unisys, Synnova, Knovah Solutions and Karvy Consultants will be part of the job fair.
The candidates will be offered positions at the entry-level in sales and marketing, information technology, finance, management, retail, and administration, to name a few.
“Companies in Bangalore are looking for talented youth who are not graduates for various positions at the entry level. Be it in BPO or retail sector, companies are looking for talented candidates, irrespective of whether they are graduate or not,” said Shajan Samuel, divisional head, IIJT.
The companies want bright candidates who could deliver their job perfectly. “Companies are also ready to further hone their skills, if they find them fit for their respective jobs,” informed Samuel.
The day-long event will also see job seekers being offered free assessment and career counselling sessions by experts of IIJT.
“The event has been planned with an objective to connect job aspirants with prospective employers, and provide skill assessment and career counselling. Every student who walks into any IIJT centre goes through an aptitude test which reflects their core strengths and skills. IIJT utilises these results to counsel students and advise them on the course best suited for them,” said Samuel.
Vishnukanth S Chatpalli, executive director of Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation Ltd (KVTSDC), said there were plenty of job opportunities for youth without degrees.
“However, candidates need to be trained and skilled. We recognise that the lack of necessary job skills is the core issue affecting the employability of our youth,” he said.
The Karnataka Employment Centre (KEC), started by KVTSDC in collaboration with the state government and staffing solutions company TeamLease, has succeeded in providing jobs to about 800 candidates in less than one year.
