Summer Internship Program

The Summer Internship Programme aims to widen the student's perspective by providing an exposure to real life organizational and environmental situations. Positioned between the first and second years, the programme is the most effecive aid in enabling our students to relate management theory to practice.

The organization, in turn benefits from the objective and unbiased perspective the student provides based on concepts and skills imbibed in the first year at the institute. The summer interns also serve as unofficial spokespersons of the organization and help in image building on campus.

Typically, projects are interdisciplinary and involve assigning independent responsibility to the summer interns, under the guidance of a senior executive. Often the project assignment is confidential and proprietary in nature, which reflects the confidence imposed in the intern by the organization. The work done by our students has been greatly appreciated by many organizations and a significant number of their recommendations have been implemented successfully.

Projects have been undertaken in the areas of strategy formulation, business process reengineering, MIS, ERP implementation, retail/investment banking, industry analysis, new product launches, sales & distribution, market research and advertising among others.

An additional benefit that organizations have come to realize, is the unique opportunity to evaluate the student from a long-term perspective. This is reflected in the increasing number of pre-placement offers (PPOs) made to Summer Interns by highly satisfied organizations.

Selection Procedure

Campus Recruitment
Selection is typically based on personal interviews on campus.
The Recruitment process is the same as that followed for Final recruitment. Recruitments for Summer Internship starts in November.

The Evaluation of the student
He summer intern works under the counsel of a company executive(company project guide) who supervises and evaluates the performance of the student during his/her Summer Internship and sends feedback on the same to the institute. The summer intern submits a copy of the summer report to his faculty guide who finally evaluates the student's performance based on the feedback from th Company Project Guide and the project report submitted. The summer project is equivalent to one course for students of the PGDM and PGDCM programmes and two courses for students of the fellowship(Doctorate) programme.

Confidential project reports will be returned by the Placement Bureau to the company after evaluation by the faculty guide.
