“ FPGA implementation of low powered pipelined 16-point FFT processor”

Description : The Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) plays an important role in many applications of digital signal processing including linear filtering, correlation analysis and spectrum analysis. A major reason for its importance is the existence of efficient algorithm for computing the DFT. Direct computation of DFT involves large number of computations. Special algorithms have been developed to compute DFT quickly.Hence DFT is computed fast using such algorithms compared to direct computation. These algorithms are collectively called Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithms. These algorithms are very efficient in terms of computations. As the value of ‘N’ increases, the computational efficiency of FFT algorithms increases
Applications: Applications demanding lower power consumption for real time applications. In such applications use of the FFT reduces computation complexity hence resulting in increased system efficiency reducing power consumption. This architecture improves power efficiency compared to other pipelined architectures.
