    Application for Summer Internship Programme 2011

    PRS invites applications for its Summer Internship Programme offering positions to interested students. The internship programme affords an opportunity to students interested in policy debates and functioning of Parliament in India.

    Project Description: PRS analyses legislation and provides non-partisan research inputs to Members of Parliament on legislative and policy issues. In addition, it is the only organization to track and collate data on the functioning of legislatures and legislators in India. The internship projects will vary depending on the issues that come up for debate when the Parliament is in session, the needs of PRS and the interests of the intern.

    Working at PRS: The PRS staff comprises a dedicated team of professionals with different areas of expertise including law, economics, political science, engineering and communication. The intern will be working out of the PRS office. The project will provide exposure to and involvement in the law-making process in India. Those interns working in PRS during an ongoing session of Parliament will get additional exposure into the research needs of legislators in India.

    Logistics: While the intern will be exposed to a number of PRS projects, each intern will be assigned one or two focused projects for the duration of the internship. The duration of the internship can be adjusted by a couple of weeks depending on the intern’s university schedule. The intern will be expected to assume regular business hours (9am – 5:30pm Monday to Friday). The intern will be provided with office space in the PRS office for the duration of the internship.

    Qualifications:· Strong writing skills· Strong analytical skills· Some knowledge of law/ public policy

    Deadline and timeline: All applications due by March 1, 2011. Internships are being offered for a period of a minimum of 4 weeks between the months of April – August. Applications requesting internships for a shorter duration will not be entertained in any circumstances. We will conduct telephonic interviews and make decisions by the middle of March.
