Sub: Summer Internship Programme for Engineering (3rd/4th year B.Tech., M.Tech.) or Science (M.Sc) students

Objectives:
To offer opportunities to suitable students to gain practical research experience by active participation in important projects of CGCRI in field of Specialty Glass and Advance Ceramic Technology.

Period: 6-8 weeks during summer
Guidelines for students: Summer Training / Project Work at CGCRI

Eligibility and application procedure:
* The student must be pursuing Engineering (3rd/4th year B.Tech., M.Tech.) or Science (M.Sc) in a recognized University/ Institute /College in the relevant area.
* He / She must have secured at least 60% marks throughout his / her academic career (from High School onwards).
* Training should be essential for the candidate?s course curriculum.
* Bio-Data (as per enclosed proforma) and academic records of the student mentioning percentage of marks obtained in different examinations from Madhyamik / School Final onwards indicating the name of the college/university/institute where studied.
* Original copy of the Recommendation Letter of the Principal / Registrar /Head of the Institution /University, mentioning the training programme sought is essential for the candidate?s course curriculum and also the date & Period of proposed training. [See the 'SAMPLE REQUEST LETTER'].
* Only forwarding the request letter written by the student will not be considered.
* Area(s) in which training is requested is to be mentioned. [Different areas of ongoing Research work can be available at CGCRI website www.cgcri.res.in.
Interested candidates must submit a 1-page research proposal along with his/her application. This proposal apart from Bio-Data will constitute an important criterion for selection.
* Applications are to be sent by post in the following address or may be delivered to the Receiving & Dispatch Section, CGCRI. The envelope containing the above documents is to be super scribed as TRAINING/Project Work (Dept./University/Inst/ period of training).
* Application with all above documents along with recommendation letter as per pro- forma (Sample Request letter) to be sent by POST ONLY to

* No phone call/email/personal query will be entertained in this regard.

[Those who are pursuing 1st year or 2nd year B.Tech are not eligible for summer training].

When to Apply:
Final applications must be received by the Head, Programme Management Division (PMD) latest by February 28, 2011. The list of selected candidates (including wait listed ones) will be notified through CGCRI website by March 31, 2011.

Training Fees & Accommodation:
* There are no fees or tuition costs associated with participation in the summer training /project work. A few students may be offered stipend, if possible, on merit basis.
* The students have to make their own arrangements for accommodation in Kolkata, if selected.
* The training period will be minimum 6 weeks to maximum 8 weeks.
