Air & sea transportation form the bulk of carriage of cargo. Few decades ago, only mail & a few other items were sent by air. Bulk voluminous cargo was sent by ship. But times have changed now. Almost anything can be carried by air – live animals, valuable cargo, human remains, etc. On the international scene, the air cargo industry is expected to grow at an average rate 8-10% within the next 10 years. With the entry of MNC’s in the country, the courier industry is on the threshold of a boom. People have become very time conscious & with fierce competition, it is a known fact that timely delivery & prompt, efficient service is the key to success.

Shipping plays an important role in our country’s economic development. In India, shipping plays a vital role in generating foreign exchange as 90% of the total quantity of goods & 80% in terms of value move by sea. The Government of India has realized the importance of developing additional coastal areas & has commissioned the development of several new ports as part of the liberalization process.

Globalization has changed the face of business today. Most manufacturers have realized the importance of logistics in today’s world. Logistics is basically a military terminology. It is a branch of military science which deals with the movement of equipment & supplies. Logistics in international trade is used to describe a commercial activity i.e. ”Movement of commercial cargo”. It is very important for precise execution, consistent monitoring, timely delivery & understanding the need of delivery of cargo at the right place at the right time.

There is an increasing demand for trained personnel in the air & sea cargo & logistics industry & to fulfill this need, TIM has designed this special course covering all three modules giving the student a threefold advantage.

Eligibility
Minimum 10+2 or equivalent. A good understanding of written English, world geography & basic mathematics & good communication skills – you will be communicating with customers, importers & exporters, ship brokers, airline/carrier representatives, customs officers & overseas agents.
