EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES :
- Post Graduate Diploma In Computer Application (PGDCA)
SUMMER TRAINING :
I have done my summer training at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) during the month of June 2009. I have studied a main area which are comes under the work area of a chemical engineer. That is coke-oven by-product plant .
Coke-Oven By-Product Plant :
This area plays a vital role to produce a huge number of by-product through the different unit process & unit operation . In R.S.P raw coke oven gas is produced during the conversion of coal to coke , in’ 35’ ovens divided in ‘5’ batteries . each oven volume is ’21.6’ m3 .
Coal is charged inside the oven & heated at temperature up to 1250.c for 18-20 hrs. This plant has divided into three sites like site “A”, site ”B” & site “C” . In site “B” I saw how ammonia gases used to produce ammonium sulfate (NH4)2SO4 by spraying H2SO4 .
In site “C” there is a tar distillation plant from which so many hydrocarbon by-products are produced by fractional distillation like benzene, toluene , xylene , naphthalene , anthracene , tar , ammonia , sulfur , carbolic oil .
Finally the free gas goes to main booster which located at site “A” & mixed with blast furnace gas & again send to the coke oven plant and rest part of the plant for heating purpose
Except these I had studied rest area like :
- Sintering plant
- Calcinations plant
- Steel melting shop – 1 (L.D convertor process)
- Tonnage oxygen plant (T.O.P)
- Biological oxidation de-penolization plant (water treatment plant)
- Ore bedding & blending plant (O.B.B.P)
ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES :
PROJECT : Design of a thickener for iron ore beneficiation of 0.3 million ton/annum.
ABSTRACT :
- Very low grade Iron ore cannot be used in metallurgical plants and needs to be upgraded to increase the iron content and reduce the gangue content. A process adopted to upgrade ore is called Beneficiation.
- Iron ore is upgraded to a higher iron content through concentration. Iron ore is being beneficiated all round the world to meet the quality requirement of Iron and Steel industries. However, each source of Iron ore has its own peculiar mineralogical characteristics and requires the specific beneficiation and metallurgical treatment to get the best product out of it.
- The choice of the beneficiation treatment depends on the nature of the gangue present and its association with the ore structure.
- Several techniques such as washing, jigging, magnetic separation, advanced gravity separation and flotation are being employed to enhance the quality of the Iron ore.
- Ex- Due to the high density of hematite relative to silicates, beneficiation usually involves a combination of crushing and milling as well as heavy liquid separation. This is achieved by passing the finely crushed ore over a bath of solution containing bentonite or other agent which increases the density of the solution. When the density of the solution is properly calibrated, the hematite will sink and the silicate mineral fragments will float and can be removed.

- Hardworking

- Self confidence
- potential leadership quality
- good communication skills
