ESTIMATION OF OSTEOPOROSIS AND EVALUATION OF BMD IN HEEL USING X-RAY IMAGES..
Osteoporosis is a disease of bone that leads to a increased risk of fracture. It occurs when bones lose an excessive amount of mineral content, particularly calcium and phosphate. The standard diagnostic technique for assessing osteoporosis is dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) measuring bone mass parameters. In this study I have examined the geometrical measures of the right proximal femur using CT images of Indian women (n=50) and compared these results with BMD values obtained by Dual x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) for same set of womenIn this study, Indian women were found to have osteoporosis and Osteopenia respectively.

ENHANCEMENT AND SEGMENTATION OF OPTIC NERVE IMAGES.
Glaucoma is one of the major causes of preventable blindness in the world. It includes nerve damage to the optic nerve head via increased pressure in the occular fluid. It is presently detected either by regularly inspection of the retina, measurement of the intra occular pressure (IOP) or by a loss of vision. It has been observed that nerve damage precedes the latter two efgents and that direct observation of the nerve head could therefore be a better method of detecting glaucoma, if the observation could be made reliably. This project describes our work in enhancing and isolating the optic nerve head in images of the retina. We describe previous attempts that have been made using simple image procwessing segmentation techniques, we present samples of our intial results. Once the nerve head has been located, its shape will be quantified by segmentation and done effectively.
