Title : “THE ROLE OF RIVET LOAD TRANSFER ON STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF FUSELAGE STRUCTURE”
COMPANY : BANGALORE AIRCRAFT INDUSTRIES PVT.LTD
- In a metallic airframe, mechanical fastening plays a dominant role in the structural safety. Rivets are designed for efficient load transfer between structural members being fastened.
- Fatigue cracking in the splice joints of the pressurized cabin of a large transport aircraft is the major threat to the structural safety. Such pressurized cabins are designed to be tolerant to such fatigue cracking
- Such a design ensures that fatigue crack will not lead to a catastrophic failure
- In this project the role of rivets in the crack arrest capability of a 2-bay circumferential crack in a fuselage will be investigated. The rivet material, size and pitch will be varied in a parametric study employing finite element analysis approach.

- Present work is on the design of a satellite subsystem support structure assembly for mass reduction with safe operating conditions.
- The forces imparted to the spacecraft are important for sensitive instruments.
- In this report a safe configuration is suggested with significant achievement in mass reduction.
