Scope
This programme is designed to assist in meeting the initial onshore safety and emergency response training and assessment requirements for personnel new to the offshore oil and gas industry as identified in the ‘UKOOA Guidelines for the Management of Competence and Training in Emergency Response.’
The programme is a component part of the UK Step Change Common Induction process which supports performance standards and knowledge requirements for the following National Occupational Standards:

Unit 1: Travel safely by helicopter to an offshore installation
Unit 2: Live and work safely on an offshore installation
Unit 3: Respond to offshore installation emergencies

Objective
The objectives of this common industry induction Standard are to be insure that all personnel working offshore achieve the following:
1. Awareness of the risks to which they are exposed and how they are managed.
2. An understanding of the essential safety rules with which they must comply and how to act in an emergency.
3. An increase in their personal commitment to work safely.
4. Effective use of personal safety equipment.
