3. Implementing these Algorithms on ECG, EEG signals
4. Comparing Compression Ratios
- Brief Overview : Nowadays we are using 3G technology. So most of the thing is in the digital form. If we want to transmit a data from one place to another which is in the digital form, it requires more space and large bandwidth. One such application is in the biomedical field. Here we are considering ECG signals. As we know ECG signal is an electrocardiogram signal. By seeing the ECG signal the doctor come to know whether the patient is in the normal or abnormal condition, if there is any deviation in the signal it will show disorder. Also one ECG signal requires 7.5 KB per minute and takes approximately 450 MB for 24 hours which is huge and requires large bandwidth to transmit through a telephonic line.
- The main aim of the project is to compress the ECG signal so that it will take less time to transmit and requires less bandwidth. Here we are using time domain (Turning Point) and frequency domain (DST, DCT, DWT) algorithm. By doing the transformation and calculating the compression ratio we compared which one is having better compression technique.
- Software : MATLAB v6
