Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to explore the posibility of
a suitable position in your organistion.
I did my Ph. D from National Chemical Laboratory,
Pune in the area of catalysis. After my Ph.D degree I
worked in a few organizations as a Research Officer,
first at FDC, Bombay and then as Process Development
Officer at Alembic Chemicals Ltd., Baroda. After this
I also worked as a Postdoctoral fellow in The
Netherlands for a period of two years.
I have completed my doctorate degree from National
Chemical Laboratory under the guidance of Dr. R. V.
Chaudhari in the area of catalysis. The title of my
Ph.D thesis was "Studies in homogeneous Catalysis :
Carbonylation of alcohols and esters". I have worked
in the area of homogeneous catalysis extensively. I
have expertise in carrying various high pressure-high
temperature gas-liquid reactions such as
carbonylation, hydrogenation and hydroformylation
using various transition metal complexes as catalyst.
The major emphasis for the Ph.D work was optimize the
reaction and to investigate the activity, selectivity,
kinetics and mechanism of the carbonylation of
alcohols. Some of the carbonylation reactions were
also carried out in biphasic medium to effect easy
catalyst/product separation. The significant
contribution made in this area was the use of non
volatile, less corrosive halide promoter and a cheaper
non-noble transition metal complex as a catalyst
system for carbonylation of alcohols. Based on this
work, the process for the manufacture of carboxylic
acid is being commercialized in India.
In the industry I was involved in the Research and
Development work of drug and drug intermediates. The
purpose was to develop, improve and modify the
procedure so as to increase yield and lower the cost
of final material. I have developed a modified
procedure for drugs such as Salbutamol Sulphate,
Flurbiprofen, Timolol maleate. I have also worked on
the manufacture of Trichloro carbanilide (TCC), an
antibacterial agent used in soaps. I am also familiar
with the scale up of the process from lab scale to
plant scale. I worked with Nicholas
Piramal India Ltd. as a Assistant Manager. I have
developed a modified process for the preparation of
drug Zaleplon and levobunol. Presently I am with Herdillia Chemicals
working on reaearch and process development for manufacture of intermediares and speciality chemicals.
I also worked as a Postdoctoral fellow at the Delft
University of Technology in The Netherlands in Prof.
Jacob Moulijn's group under the guidance of Dr.Michel
Makkee for a period of two years (April 1998-March
2000). There I was involved in the study of
hydroformylation reaction with emphasis on catalyst
separation in the hydroformylation of fine chemicals.
I am enclosing a copy of my CV as an text document below along with this letter for your kind consideration.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
(R. S. Ubale)

“Production of phytase from fungal isolate”
The phytate is the main source of phosphorous found in seed. But this phytate is poorly available to poultry animals A fungal strain producing enzyme phytase was isolated from soil using PSM. Optimum temperature was found to be 400c and pH was 5.5. The production of phytase by fungal by fungal isolate also has been carried out using solid state fermentation (SSF).
