Project : Contract I 2, East - West Highway, 218 km to 366 km (Chauharwa to Pathlaiya), Second Road Improvement Highway Project , Road Improvement and Maintenance Components, DoR/ ADB. Approximate cost of the Rehabilitation Works was NRs.830 million.
The contract I2 included construction of road improvement works from 218 km to 267 km Chauharwa - Dhalkebar, 49 km) and periodic maintenance between 267 km and 366 km (Dhalkebar - “ Pathlaiya, 99 km). The main road improvement and periodic maintenance works were pavement reconstruction/ overlay with crushed stone base and DBST, drainage improvement/ maintenance, river training and bridge protection works. The works were executed under ICB contract of about NRs 320 million. Responsibilities were quality control of road materials and construction. Main functions performed were design of cold and hot mixes, determination of binder and chippings application rater for DBST; supervision of pavement maintenance works that included pre-treatment such as base reinstatement, slurry seal, pot-hole repair by cold and hot mixes and DBST; conduct laboratory and field testing of road materials and works; and quality control in subgrade preparation, laying of subbase and crushed stone base course, granular overlay and surfacing with DBST; preparation of material test reports and assistance to overall quality assurance.
