Project :CASTOR WHP WELL HEAD PLATFORM PROJECT
Inplace Analysis of the Well Head Platform structure in SACS
The project involved in the Castor Underground Gas Storage Development Project of Escal UGS, the Wellhead Platform (WHP) will be located off Vinaroz, Spain. The platform structure includes one 4-legged jacket in 60 metres of water depth (referred to LAT) with 4 skirt piles in skirt sleeves and topsides.
The main objective of the analysis is to ensure that the structural configuration and the constituent elements of the jacket satisfy the strength, stability and serviceability criteria during in-place conditions as laid down in the Structural Design Basis and API RP 2A-WDS, 21st Edition, AISC, 9th Edition. The analysis has been performed for all the possible loading conditions which are likely to emerge during the lifetime of the jacket.
The analysis has been performed using Pile-Soil-Structure interaction facility available in the SACS software. Non linear simulation of the foundation is considered.Dynamic analysis is carried out to predict the dynamic response of the structure to wave/currentinduced excitation and to predict the fundamental periods of the platform as per thedesign basis.
The document is approved by Lloyds Register.
Client :ACS Cobra Castor, Escal UGS, Spain
Project :CASTOR WHP WELL HEAD PLATFORM PROJECT
Modelling of the Well Head Platform structure in SACS, taking into considerations the as built structural drawings details, the model was then used for various pre-service and operational analysis.

Project :CASTOR WHP WELL HEAD PLATFORM PROJECT
Lift analysis ofthe Well Head Platform Structure in SACS
The scope the Analysis to verify the structural integrity of the WHP jacket for the initial lift condition from the barge at offshore. The aim of the initial lift analysis is to assess the maximum stresses induced in the jacket members during the lift and to ensure that the member and joint stresses conform to API RP 2A-WDS, 21st Edition, AISC, 9th Edition.
The analysis included the lift study of the Jacket structure off from the barge to its location in the sea for further upending on to the actual location, the analysis also included rigging calculations, an padeye designs using standard spreadsheets in MathCAD and excel.
The document is approved by Lloyds Register.
Client :ACS Cobra Castor, Escal UGS, Spain
Project : CASTOR WHP WELL HEAD PLATFORM PROJECT
Floatation and Upending and Damaged Stability of the Well Head Platform Structure in SACS
Floatation and Upending analysis with controlled flooding of the Well Head Platform was performed to analyse the floatation characteristics of the Well Head Platform after it has been lifted off the cargo barge and lowered into the water, also to evaluate the safe Upending operation of the Well Head Platform once it is stable under its own floating characteristics, the upending is done to its onsite location for furtheroperational activities, the analysis included partial flooding and simultaneous lifting offa crane hook to place the Jacket into the vertical position on the seabed from itshorizontal flooding position, the float module in SACS was made used in the analysis.
Also evaluation of the floatation characteristics of the jacket in an unlikely event of accidental damage to the compartments the jacket legs was performed separately.
Evaluation of the hook/sling loads and flooding requirements during successive stages of upending from the horizontal free floating condition to the final vertical condition was also done and hence included rigging calculations, an Upending padeye designs using standard spreadsheets in MathCAD and excel
The document is approved by Lloyds Register.

Project :GREATER EKOFISK AREA 2/4L UTILITY & ACCOMODATIONTOPSIDESMODELLING IN SACS AND TRANSPORTATION ANALYSIS
The project involved the transportation analysis of the Ekofisk 2/4L accommodation platform consists of a 4-legged jacket and a steel topside accommodation module (also referred as topsides) structure providing 522 beds and associated services, utilities, safety equipments and helicopter facilities for the ConcoPhilips Ekofisk Complex. The topsides will be fabricated at Stord, Norway and will be installed at the site at Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
The transportation analysis model is modelled as a stiffened plate structure in SACSwith all the penetrations in the panels are included as per the drawings provided.
The “TOW” module in SACS is used to generate inertia forces encounteredduringtransportation due to the motions of the barge.
SACS IV module is used to generate common solution files for all the stages ofanalysis.“COMBINE” module is used to combine the results of gravity, wind and towanalysis runs. “POST” Module is used to code check the adequacy of the memberswith respect to the stipulations of the codesand also to generate the database forviewing the analysis results.
The module is designed using load and resistance factor design method.
The transportation analysis assessed the maximum stresses induced in the members, and wall panels (with penetrations) of the topsides during the transportation condition, and to ensure that the stresses conform to the allowable limits as perNorwegiancodes NORSOK N-001, NORSOK N-002, NORSOK N-004, NS3472, DNV Rules forPlanning and Execution of Marine Operations, 1996
Weight Control Report is also was prepared for the structure.
Client :BOMEL Ltd.
Project : GREATER EKOFISK AREA 2/4L UTILITY & ACCOMODATION TOPSIDES LIFT ANALYSIS
The scope of the analysis to verify the structural integrity of the Ekofisk 2/4L accommodation topsides for the lift condition from the barge at offshore.
The aim of the lift analysis is to assess the maximum stresses induced in the topsides members during the lift and to ensure that the member stresses conform to the Norwegian codes NORSOK N-001, NORSOK N-002, NORSOK N-004, NS3472, DNV Rules for Planning and Execution of Marine Operations, 1996.
The accommodation modules will be lifted using heavy lift vessel Saipem 7000. Thedual cranes will work in tandem to lift the deck and position it on the jacket. It isassumed that the cranes work in perfect tandem.
The module is designed using load and resistance factor design method.
The analysis consisted of preparing a detailed model in SACS using plate and beamelements. Load was applied as pressure load, lineloads, concentrated loads on theplates and beams. A detailed MTO report was also prepared and the model weightwas matched with that of the MTO. The analysis was done for normal and skew liftcases. Results were obtained as lst/GUI.

Project : CONCEPT DESIGN OF FINGER PIER FOR LOADOUT
OF NEWLY BUILT JACKUP RIGS AT MIS YARD, SHARJAH, Paper on this analysis selected for the GT-STRUDL users conference held at Georgia Tec. University
The project concerns with the concept structuraldesign and analysis of Finger Pier Pontoons to be used for the load out of jack-up rigs by MIS, Sharjah. The Finger Pier supports the rig during the load out and aretwo in number. Each of them carries a skid which assist the movement of rig.The pontoons are connected to each other by tubular braces which are designed to carry only axial loads. The suitable locking arrangement of these braces with the pontoons assists them in adjusting with minor relative settlement.
The FiniteElement Modelling was carried out with GT STRUDLand the loading was applied according to the expected distribution during the loadout of the jackup rig.Plate elements were used to prepare the model. The effectof moving load from the rig during loadout has been simulated and hence the pontoon is analyzed at different stages.
The drawings for the concept design are reviewed.
The scantlings were checked with reference to ABS, Rules for building and classing steel Barges.
