- Project on “Solid particle erosion equipment”. In order to determine erosion resistant properties of metals.
- B.E final year project entitled “DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF SOLID PARTICLE EROSION TEST RIG”
The solid particle erosion test rig equipment is designed and fabricated according to ASTM G-76-02 standards. Solid particle erosion test method covers the determination of material loss by gas-entrained solid particle impingement erosion with jet nozzle type equipment. The test method may be used in the laboratory to measure solid particle erosion of different materials and has been used as a screening test for ranking solid particle erosion rates of materials. In case of aerospace materials, high velocity solid particle impacts the components with air borne sand and cause serious damage, reducing working life time. Hence, it is important to design and develop erosion equipment in order to determine erosion resistant properties.
