Description of Project :
At that time Income Support provided a need based payment of allowance to all low income households where the customer worked less than a specific number of hours a week. Those eligible to claim included Pensioner, Unemployed, Sick or the disable and Lone Parent families. In 1996 responsibility for the payment of allowances for the unemployed was transferred to the new system Jobseekers Allowance Payments System (JSAPS).
Over the intervening years there have been numerous releases of the ISCS application to cater for legislative and administrative changes, work is currently ongoing for Release 36.
In 2011 changes went live for the processing of the new Pension Credit claims, for those aged over 60, on behalf of the recently formed Pension Service. The Pension Service is an agency of the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) with responsibility for both the State Retirement Pension and Pension Credit.
Income Support is dealt with at a large number of Jobcentre Plus offices each dealing with their own local area within boundaries. Each Jobcentre Plus office, for Income Support purposes, deals with a limited and unique set of Postal Code areas. The office which a customer deals with is therefore determined by their address
