Industrial Technology Research Institute Taiwan : Cloud computing intern, software engineer
Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) is a national applied research laboratory in Hsinchu, Taiwan, and has won
several Wall Street Journal Technology awards and R&D 100 awards in the last two years. In September 2009,
ITRI set up a new research center called Cloud Computing Center for Mobile Applications (CCMA) specifically focused
on cloud computing research and development. In the past 12 months, this center has been working on two
research projects: Container Computer 1.0, whose goal is to develop an energy-efficient cloud computer that is low-cost,
manageable and scalable, and Cloud OS 1.0, whose goal is to turn a set of commodity servers, switches and disks into
an end-to-end service platform for supporting IaaS (Infrastructure as a service) services similar to Amazon’s EC2 offering.
The prototypes resulting from both projects are at the finishing touch stage right now, and will be in beta testing at the
end of February 2011. CCMA currently has about 85 engineers and will grow to 130 engineers next year. We are currently
looking to hire interns (for summer 2011) and senior software engineers specifically with the following skills:
(1) Data center architecting and design, particularly in the area of cooling system design, control and management,
(2) Hypervisor software design and implementation, particularly in the area of I/O virtualization and security,
(3) System and rack area network architecture design and implementation,
(4) Scalable and highly available storage/file/data management system design and implementation, and
(5) Large-scale distributed system and application development.
