- Ensuring that there is suitable follow-up with concerned parties where a claim is pending on account of non-availability of required documentation or other specified evidence or action.
- Maintaining premium and claims statistics for vessels owned, operated or managed by the Company.

Worked as a claims handler in the P&I Division (CLAIMS) and also took part in the Vessel Agency division and was in charge of (Documentation and Operation) Import Consignment of Bulkhaul ISO Tank Containers at Chennai office.
Job Responsibilities :
- Handling cargo claims, compensation and legal matters.
- Reporting to overseas Principals such as P&I Clubs, Vessel Owners etc., and exchanging various operational correspondences providing potential settlement advises.
- Liaising with Surveyors, Lawyers, Steamer agents, Port, Customs and other relevant authorities as and when necessary.
- Registering a claim with the club after having checked the P&I entry of the vessel on which the claim has been lodged.

- Analyze the nature and type of the claim lodged by the cargo receivers locally with the vessel agents, examining all the relevant documentation associated with the particular claim and advise the club accordingly for handling the claim in suitable manner.
- To handle claims (in the nature of fines, penalties for non-compliance of the local customs regulations) imposed upon the vessel agents by the quasi-judicial authorities.
