Job Profile :
You will be assigned to become a team member of a task force with short term projects along with a team leader. Depending on your performance, dedication, skills - you can also be assigned as a team Leader of projects during this period. TOPIC : “ELECTRIC TRAIN CONTROLLER”
OBJECTIVE : The basic objective is to ensure passing of two or more trains through a common track.Electric Train Controller is an efficient replacement of lever type signaling used in Indian Railways.
TOOLS and EQUIPMENTS : Microcontroller89C51,train and track system,power supply,IR(infrared)Transmitter and Reciever,relays,LCD display.
WORKING :The two trains are traveling on different tracks arriving at a common track.When one of the train enters the common track,the other trains is stopped and the track is set for the first train.after the train has passed a safe distance,the track is changed and second train starts.The signaling is conrolled by microcontroller 89C51.The microcontroller performs two functions:
a)to control movement of train.
b)to change the track.
Infrared transmitter-reciever pairs are used as sensors and relays are used as switches.
The LCD displays the status of the train.The programming of microcontroller is done using VHDL coding.
This project is a small contribution for betterment of rail services and to provide more safe environment for railway traffic.
