Recruitment against Ex-Servicemen Quota

1.0. Applications are invited for filling up 1164 posts in the Pay Band ` 5200-20200 with Grade Pay `1800/- (erstwhile Group ‘D’ category) against Ex-Servicemen Quota (ESM) on Central Railway.


2.0. Eligibility Conditions:

2.1 Ex-Servicemen who have retired after putting in 15 years of military service and have passed Army Class-I Certificate or equivalent. Serving personnel who will be retiring within next one year from the date of this notification after putting in the minimum required service are also eligible to apply. However, they must be relieved from Army Service before 15/12/2011 and such applicants should enclose a certificate to that effect issued by their competent authority.

2.2 Those who have been discharged from Army Service due to disability or due to reasons not attributable to them are also eligible to apply. They must enclose necessary documents to this effect. Such persons should possess Educational Qualification of matriculation if their Army service is less than 15 years.


3.0. Age Limit

i) Maximum Age as on 01/11/2010 should not exceed as under:
33 years + relaxable to the extent of military service + 3 years.
ii) Relaxation in age will be admissible only if the military service before
discharge (in cases of disability, etc.) is not less than 6 months.

4.0. Mode of Selection: - There will be no Written Test and no Physical Efficiency Test. The recruitment shall be on the basis of only scrutiny of applications. The panel will be formed on the basis of length of Military Service rendered by the applicant.

4.1 Medical Test - Empanelled candidates will have to qualify in the medical test of appropriate category failing which their name will be deleted from the panel.

5.0. How to apply

5.1. The application shall be submitted on A-4 size quality white paper and should be in the format enclosed as Annexure ‘A’ to this notification. The application format should be filled up in English or Hindi only on one side of the paper, duly dated and signed. Left Hand Thumb Impression should also be given in the boxes provided in the Format. Applicant’s signature in short form/capital letters will be treated as invalid. Each candidate should send one application only.

5.2. One copy of latest passport size photograph in Uniform without sun glasses/wig should be affixed on the application form on the space provided in the application form and two spare photographs should be stapled with the application after writing name and date of birth on the backside of photographs.

5.3. Along with application, attested copies of Educational Qualification, certificate indicating date of birth, Community Certificate in case of SC/ST & OBC, Military Certificate (Date of enrolment & date of discharge/retirement) issued by the appropriate authority should be enclosed. Application without attested copies of the certificates will be summarily rejected.

5.4 Fees: There is no fee for applying against this notice.

6.0. Applications complete in all respects along with enclosures should be sent to The Assistant Personnel Officer (Recruitment), Central Railway, P.D`Mello Road, 1st Floor, CPM (Conversion)’s Building, Wadi Bunder, Mumbai-400 010. Application should be sent by ordinary post or dropped in the box kept in the above office for this purpose. Application sent by registered post/courier or speed post will not be acknowledged. The cover containing the application should clearly be superscribed as follows:
“Application for Recruitment against Ex-Servicemen Quota ”

7.0. Application found incomplete in any way will be rejected and no further correspondence in this regard will be entertained. No separate communication will be sent to the candidate in this regard.

7.1. Candidates should ensure that they are fulfilling eligibility conditions before applying.

7.2 Eligible and willing Ex-Servicemen should only apply in the prescribed Format.

8.0. Selected candidates will be posted against vacancies of Helper-II/ Trackmen/Porter//Pointsmen/Gatemen/Parcel Porter etc. in various departments like Signal & Telecom, Electrical, Mechanical, Operating, Commercial, Civil Engineering etc. on any Division/Workshop/Units of Central Railway. No request for change of division/Workshop/Units allotted to a candidate will be entertained.

9.0 Ex-Servicemen who had earlier applied in response to Employment Notice No.1/07 dated 17-05-2007 for recruitment against Group’D’ posts are required to APPLY again as this is a special recruitment for them.
