The Preparatory Commission for International Renewable Energy Agnecy invites applicants for the position of the Director General of IRENA. The Director-General is the head and chief administrative officer of the International Renewable Energy Agency, and is responsible to the Assembly and the Council for the performance of his/her functions. The Director-General plays a crucial role in promoting the widespread and increased adoption, and the sustainable use, of all forms of renewable energy in the international community.

Qualifications Experience

- At least 15 years of professional experience.

Education

- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a relevant field.

Language

- Fluency in oral and written English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic, French, Spanish, or other languages would be an advantage.

Length of Service
Pursuant to the IRENA Statue, the Director-General will serve no more than two elected four year terms as determined by the Member States through the Assembly.
